Services for publishers

• Copy-editing, usually on screen, but I can offer hard-copy mark-up if required.
• Proofreading, usually on paper, but I can also proofread PDF files.

Over the past eleven years I have worked on more than 150 titles for publishers of educational, academic and general non-fiction books. I often handle projects from copy-editing to final proofs, including complex multi-author volumes for academic publishers. This might also involve

• liaising with the academic editor and contributors
• compiling prelim pages such as lists of abbreviations and illustrations
• sizing and organising illustrations
• sending proofs out to contributors
• proofreading and collating proofs
• editing and proofreading the index
• checking revise proofs
• ensuring that all of these operations are carried out on schedule.

My recent proofreading experience includes textbooks for Pearson Education (International Baccalaureate history, economics, and English literature) and apprenticeship material for Pearson Vocational. In the past year I have edited textbooks for Hodder Gibson (SQA Higher and Curriculum for Excellence) and Leckie & Leckie (Curriculum for Excellence).

I have edited and proofread a variety of books for trade publishers, including Thames & Hudson.

I regularly update my professional skills by attending workshops, courses and conferences.

You can read what some of my publisher clients have said about my work.
